Online Baby Shower from the United States, and Ecuador (my sister lives there)

We really wanted to say thank you to our family and friends for having a baby shower for us! It made us feel like we are actually at home this past Saturday. It's not easy living in another country during important times in life, like having a baby, but we know that you all really love and support us. Thanks so much.

We got some really fun and cool gifts. Doug is excited to have to put together the things that need to be put together....I don't even dare try that because I don't want to hurt the kiddo. It could be dangerous if I tried.

The best part of the day just may have been the cake :)

If you notice, we lost our tree topper...she just can't seem to stay up there....ha ha.

All the gifts except the play mat, which we hope is coming in soon. The mail around here only delivers like 3 days a week.

Doug loved the cake as well :) Maybe not as much as me!

What does Krakow, a Ball, and the Flu Shot have in common?

October so far.  At the start of the month we visited Krakow, Poland.  Both beautiful and eye opening.  The city market square has been labeled the largest in Europe and was truly wonderful.
Rynek (Main Market Square) Krakow

From Krakow we were also able to visit two of the concentration camps, Auschwitz and AuschwitzII-Birkenau.  A memory never to be forgotten.

Work Makes You Free (Entry into Auschwitz)

I don't have much else to say about what we saw or felt walking through these two camps.  In my own opinion, it's better left to each individual to explain in their own way.  Although, I do have to say I was glad to be able to have the opportunity to experience it and I'll leave it at that.

Now onto brighter moments.  Just last weekend we attended the 2010 Tri-Border U.S. Air Force Ball.  This was a special occasion for two reasons. First, it was our first Air Force Ball together and as a bonus we got to experience it inside a castle.  It was held at Castle Hoensbroek located in the Netherlands.  We had visited the castle about two months ago, which was my first European castle to visit. We had a blast and I was pleased to see the guest speaker for the night was Major General Jack B. Eddington, whom I had the pleasure to know before when he was the Wing Commander at Tyndall during a prior assignment I had there.

Well that's been our October so far, oh, almost forgot about the Flu Shot.  Yes, we both received our Flu Shots, yeah!  Laura had to get permission to receive hers, but Doc K. said it was all good.  A quick update on Dathan since our last visit, he is 2 lbs and 14 inches and both Mother and Little Man are doing just fine.

Dathan's Room and Baby stuff

We are working on getting Dathan's room ready for him! Well, the actual room furniture is being shipped to us, so we still have at least a few more weeks to wait for that, but we got the Pack and Play and the Stroller together! (Well, I got it together after a few hours ;) )

Traveling Europe in between unpacking

The past two weekends we have had a great opportunity to get out and see Europe. While trying to unpack and set up the house the way we want it and getting ready for the baby with the nursery, we have gone to Brussels for a weekend to see the big track and field finale in Europe. Of course, Laura was in heaven and I thought it was pretty cool as well. The track meet was unlike I have ever seen. They actually love and support the sport here. Pretty cool to see and be apart of. Tyson Gay won the 100 meter dash pretty easily and that was fun to see!

Brussels was a nice city with alot of cool things to see, great food, and just a very relaxing atmosphere.

This past weekend we went into London and did some serious sightseeing. I think we were on the move the entire three days we were there.  London has so much history and things to see, and there are people everywhere there.

We finally got our Household Items!

Tuesday, the movers arrived at the house with 9 crates of items to deliver to us! It was an exciting day, yet also a very exhausting day! We worked from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm....way too much to day in one day.

Good Bye Nice Movers! They did a great job of moving all of the items inside the house!

Finally, our own bed! It was such a great night of sleep!

Little Haberstroh is on the way! (if you didn't already know :) ) OH, and It's a BOY!

We are getting excited about the new baby. This is the first picture we have of the little one. He or she is just chillin in the first ultrasound. Heartbeat at 168! Like running a sprint!

The second ultrasound the little kiddo is growing and growing and looking more like a human! Heartbeat at 150! Getting in better shape :)

Our most recent sonogram was at 21 weeks, early September, and we found out that we are having a boy!

We are gearing up for the future Wonder Boy or Golden Sun....
Maybe the kiddo will just support both teams and schools!

It will be okay if he or she is just a future Wildcat, too!

Why we are here exactly?!

Douglas is a Major in the United States Air Force and we are stationed at Geilenkirchen, Germany. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) AWACS base is located there. Doug is working in the planes around Europe and the area making sure the countries in the area are safe and sound.

It involves 15 NATO countries: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and the United States. So we were really happy when he got his United States flag patch so we could proudly represent the United States of America, the greatest country in the world, in our humble opinion.

The AWACS plane looks like the one in the patch on his uniform. It's a pretty cool plane! I really like the one that is especially made for the NATO unit with all of the countries flags on it.

Me, I am just a Military Spouse! Ha Ha, welcome to the Military.

Fall Day in the Summer

Today in Germany it's like 60 degrees and very windy and rainy. Pretty cold actually. It feels like a far cry from the South today! It's more like a Mid-October day when cross country season is just getting rolling and football season is in full swing. That's what it makes me feel today.

We did get some good news about the house here though. Our household goods (aka furniture) has been shipped to the base here and we will get them to the house next Tuesday. My car, the beloved Ford, also is here and ready to be picked up! We can go pick it up tomorrow.
